Ellen McLaughlin O'Connor, Chief Executive Officer

Ellen O'Connor was recently hired as the CEO for the Apopka Family Learning Center. Ellen's career as a business leader and marketer, as well as her leadership in the nonprofit community, made her the perfect choice for the AFLC at this time, when the demands for funding require new, innovative approaches for engaging the private sector.

Prior to joining the AFLC as the Chief Executive Officer, Ellen was an AFLC volunteer board member since 2006. Ellen is an experienced marketing and media director who has a long track record with community service in particular with children's nonprofit agencies. She has held leadership positions on both sides of the nonprofit funding table: working as a Marketing Manager with the McCormick Tribune Foundation on fundraising and local grant making as well as being a volunteer Board President. As a marketing executive, she has worked for three of the leading media companies in the country - Tribune Company (Sun-Sentinel), Cox Enterprises (The Palm Beach Post), and Bonnier Corporation. Ellen has a long track record with strategic planning, managing company brands and building organizational development. Most recently, she held the position of President of Big Little Agency, a full-service marketing and creative services consulting agency.
